The "mood" of the verb helps to communicate a speaker's

attitude. Verbs have three moods: imperative, indicative,

and subjunctive. Imperative is used to express commands,

warnings, or requests. Indicative is used to express facts or
13

opinions or to ask a question. Subjunctive is used to express a
13
1
wish or conditions contrary to fact. Subjunctive is also used
13
1
in that clauses that express a suggestion, a demand, or a
13
1
requirement.
